The Cupcake Show!

I hope to sell my first painting...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CUPCAKES ARE THE THEME FOR THE ACADEMY AND FROSTED CUPCAKERY’S ARTWALK SHOW!

May 18, 2006

Long Beach, California - The Academy Store, located in the downtown artist district and cupcake bakery Frosted Cupcakery, located in the beach community of Belmont Shore, have teamed up for the Last Saturday Art Walk at The Academy 433 E. 1st Street on May 27th from 7-11pm. The theme of the evening will be cupcakes. They will be presenting works of art by 15 different up-and-coming artists, as well as tasty treats provided by Frosted.

The Academy, owned by John Mendez and Mike De La Vega, offers a selection of reasonably priced apparel, accessories, housewares and select vintage goods from under the radar designers. The charming minimalist décor of The Academy, along with its forest wallpaper scene and mounted buck head, contributes to the entire environment of a shop built by artists, for artists.

Frosted Cupcakery, owned by a mother and daughter duo, Nancy Hanley and Stacia Samartan, was inspired by a love of cupcakes and a lifetime of memories set in their family kitchen. The modern aesthetic of Frosted is accompanied by a home baked quality that is meant to evoke feelings of nostalgia. Cupcakes are sold individually or by the dozen at 195 Claremont Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90808.

So if you are in the neighborhood on the last Saturday of May, be sure to stop by the artist district of Long Beach for some cupcakes, art and friendly conversation.
