B.H.R.

It's your favorite early nineties hardcore punk band! B.H.R.! What does does B.H.R. stand for? Butt Hole Rebellion? Big Honkey Rednecks? By Heavenly Request? Beelzebub's Honor Roll? Who cares! It's punk rock! Aargh! You might recall B.H.R. from such hits as, "Trestles Will Be Mine", "Beaners Stuck Underwater" and "Psycho Grandma". I just came across this album last night and for some reason it made me pretty happy.
Here's a couple of MP3 tracks for your punk rock pleasure.

  • Dr.Martens

  • Everything

  • Here's the back cover. The shirtless guy singing is my friend Mark "The Shark" Howe. He was also in this surf-punk outfit known as "The Immortals". He's still rockin' out today, but I don't recall who he's playing with now.

What a handsome bunch of decent looking young men...wait...is...that...

    ...Crash McLarson?

It stands for Butt Hole Rebellion (I know because Mark is my younger brother). The band had huge promise, an awesome sound that took punk and lyrics to a new level. Myself will be an instant classic to anyone who listens to it. Mark left the band to go on a LDS mission to Manchester, England (He was always straight edge.) I don't know where Matt McCue (sp?) lives nor the drummer (Think his name was Richard.) Chad Larsen however lives in Huntington Beach, is married, has kids and is also a member of the Aquabats. Mark Howe lives in South OC and is currently working on a movie he has submitted to Sundance.

Parker - Didn't realize that was you. We've met maybe only once but you are probably familiar with most of my family and we have mutual friends.
This album rocked! One of my fav's all time. J Morris told me about your show on Nick - Nice job!

BHR was some good times for sure and I agree with Matt Howe, "Myself" is a classic for sure. I remember the day we recorded it like it was yesterday. I could't make it through the drum track for some reason. I believe we had about 30 or so takes before I got frustrated and yelled, "THIS IS IT!!" at the beginning. Our producer left it in the track as a reminder.
The only thing I regret were the homosexual hate lyrics. Then again, we were very young, brought up very religious and simply didn't know better. You all should look for the split 7" we did with Guttermouth. Tracks are Rabies and Transylvania Slam. Can't find this anywhere except for my collection. It was a good one.
