80's new wave pop video treasure trove

As I mentioned in my last post, my older siblings used to tape videos off Video One (with Richard Blade) back in the day... This period lasted between '83 and '85 (I was born in '77 just so you know). We had volumes and volumes of Betamaxx tapes full of the hottest new wave, pop and rock videos of the day. I used to watch these when I had nothing else to do. Watching the Cure sing "Let's Go To Bed" was just as entertaining to me as watching Bert and Ernie or the Great Space Coaster.

So with the magic of YouTube I decided to compile a playlist of every video I could remember that we had on tap. This isn't an exhaustive list by any means. I'm sure I'm forgetting tons (Parka? any suggestions?), and there were a few I couldn't find ("Ride The White Pony" or "State of Shock" by the Jacksons for example). But I figure 150 videos ain't too bad.

Keep in mind, for every great video in this list, there's a real stinker. A few I didn't even want to put on here, but I had no choice. :) So if you have time and want to peek into my childhood musical tastes, check it out!!

Let's see....what about The Muppet Babies video "I'm gonna always love you" and I think...the Untouchables "free yourself"? I remember that...oh! "White Pony"!
Did we not have the Specials "Ghost Town" as well?

muppet babies - unavailable (goshdangit!)
untouchables - got it (even though I don't remember it)
specials - got it... (Even though I don't really remember watching it as a kid either)

I'm also missing "The Homecoming Queen's got a gun" by Julie Brown... :(

oh yeah I'm also missing Squeeze "Pulling Mussels From a Shell" with a handfull of few others. I'm kind of surprised I remembered this many just off the top of my head... but then again, this is what I did instead of going outside and learning to throw a ball.

No that was Howard Jones' "Pearl in a Shell"

no no squeeze did "pulling mussels from a shell" too... but alas, neither video is available... I should get those tapes from dad... I saw one when I was up visiting him a few years back.. I remember the "White Pony" video and Thomas Dolby's "Hyperactive".. it was great.
