THE UP BEAT MOVIE!!!

I'm thrilled about Brandon Smith's Utah Ska documentary, "The Upbeat" because it has so much do with my favorite music and even a little bit of my own personal history. It's centered around Utah's upcoming The Upstarts and the history of the Utah ska scene. It features interviews from The Slackers, Toots Hibbert, Bucket from the Toasters and Buster Bloodvesssel. Also, Utah ska legends, Swim Herschel Swim and Stretch Armstrong to name just a few...oh and then...GOGO13? I laugh. Many of the photos contributed are taken from my old pals; ska promoter, Racquel and her ex-Boyfriend Dustin "Skip" Blad of the early GOGO13 incarnation. I find it hilarious to see pictures of my younger brother in our teenage bedroom in the same documentary with likes of Toots and old fatty himself! HAHAHA! Tyler also had some involvement and is accredited with associate producer status! Way to go everybody!

Tyler and our Bedroom - Early Nineties.

Back in June, Tyler posted this blog about this upcoming Utah Ska documentary (HERE) Anyhow, I was contacted this by morning by the man doing do this, Brandon Smith, about being involved. So I checked out his blog and I scrolled down and found a post about our old friend Raquel, which also featured a couple of her photos. One of them was this one: This my brother in our room in the early 90's. Look at those old flyers!!! They span from LA, OC, Las Vegas and Utah shows. Some of those are flyers I made. Oh the memories...

Moot Local

Finally it's here! The Director's Cut Special 12th Anniversary Edition of MOOT LOCAL!

What is "Moot Local" you ask? Only the biggest groundbreaking achievement in american cinema since the introduction of "talkies"! Ok, well maybe not THAT great, but at least it's better than The Matrix (not that that's saying much.. OK, that's just my opinion...)

Actually, Moot Local is a short student film I made for my high school film class back 1995 in Bountiful, Utah. It's about a girl who gets stuck in a the city and has to find her way back home... hilarity insues.

I digitized it a couple years back and have been recutting it, color correcting it, fixing the soundtrack, etc. in my free time. I finally finished it to where I'm happy with it, and so here it is, for your viewing pleasure.

And now you can finally enjoy the deluxe george-lucas-rewriting-history-star-wars-edition of my masterpiece, "Moot Local"

Is It Too Late Now?

I just found out that Brandon Smith (of the Upstarts) is currently producing a documentary on Utah Ska entitled "Is It Too Late Now?".

He asked me to possibly interview and I'm honored and excited for a project like this. Of course the Utah Ska Scene of the 90's is something that's dear to my heart and I think there was something about it that was very special. I'm excited to see how this comes out.

Check out the production blog.
